It was made by students Jon Chow, Dan Reich and Brittany Davies. They’re not tax professionals (they’re students) but their movie made me laugh. So, I caught up with them and asked them a few questions. Enjoy!
1. Where are you now?
Brittany: 49o 16′01.16″ N , 123o 14′50.65″ W
Jonathan: What she said.
Daniel: Touring Nabraska with my heavy metal band called Guns, Knives and other weapons?

Basic website hosting is one of those things that I take for granted. I have multiple options open to me since I manage and maintain my own cluster, in addition to having a significant number of shared hosting accounts for IP range diversity. I usually bring on a new host when I have a project that has specific needs in a hosting environment.
I evaluate hosting providers by opening one of their mid level hosting accounts and see how they perform. I have evaluated Hostway, Powweb, CrystalTech and Hostgator this way. Most of these hosting plans have performed up to my expectations. As a result of this testing I cannot recommend Powweb. Their servers are constantly over-loaded. I am currently reviewing the offerings on MySite.com.

My husband recieved a 1099 Misc form as his only source of income, but we have be told that he has to file as self-employed been he has to file a Schedule C form, but our conflict is that it is not his dump truck and he does not generate any expenses being he is only an employee.
I hope you can help me resolve my doubts.

Posted by Ralf Yoffe | Under Business, Commentary, Company Profiles, Marketing, Strategies, U.S. Markets Friday Oct 26, 2007Michael Martine offered to help me out while I was in Austin. He actually sent more than one idea for a high-value guest post. This one on content strategy appeals to the editor in me and also to the business strategist.

Ever find yourself lost in a tunnel? Lost your job. Lost your best client. Lost your trust in yourself. How you got there isn’t the point. The problem is whether you’ll find your way out.

Posted by Ralf Yoffe | Under Taxes Wednesday Oct 24, 2007Finally.
The IRS has a feature available on its web site where you can check the status of your rebate. Visit “Where’s My Stimulus Payment?” and have on hand your legal name, filing status, Social Security number and number of exemptions shown on your 2007 return. You must have filed your tax return at least six weeks prior in order to get an update.
If your information is not available (mine wasn’t), you’ll receive a message telling you to check the Payment Schedule.

I was so taken by them I asked him on the spot if he might write a guest post about them. I’m thrilled to say he agreed! So here it is.
Nine Things I’ve Learned While Running a Business by Rick Cockrum
I usually write at Shards of Consciousness on personal growth topics, but my wife and I also own a bricks and mortar business, the Ambridge Family Theatre, one of the few independent movie theatres in left in western Pennsylvania. At one of Liz’s regular Open Comments night, Becky McCray of Small Biz Survival was talking about a series of posts she’s doing on starting a small business. I piped up about some of the things my wife and I spent a lot of time researching before we bought the theatre, and things we’re still learning.
