Where’s There’s A Will, There’s Confusion

Friday Mar 30, 2007

The most recent news out of the Anna Nicole Smith camp is that her Will does not provide for anyone other than her now deceased son, Daniel. In fact, it specifically excludes afterborn children and future spouses.

Of course, the wrench in all of this is that Daniel predeceased Anna Nicole, thus likely creating an intestacy (the legal term when there is not a will or if there is a will but a hole in the scheme of distribution). So now it really matters where Anna Nicole’s domicile is judged to be, as the laws of that jurisdiction would determine the

John Chow’s ways of Avoiding Income Tax

Posted on February 19, 2008

For those who are familiar about blogging, you will know that John Chow is a famous blog monetizer & 5-figure pro-bloggers who is very successful making money online.

In his blog, he claimed that he is an accountant and that may lend some weights to the above topics. His articles may stir up some controversy in areas of Income and Expenditure. According to him “Tax avoidance is not illegal, tax evasion is. The two are completely different from each other. Avoiding income tax is not the same as evading it” Anyways, what prompts him to write is in his own words “some would say they go against the spirit of the law. Let’s see. Which do you think is more corrupt: government buying votes with your money, or the efforts of every citizen to deny the government as much money as legally possible so as to force it back on the road to financial responsibility?”

2. The Heart Types

Enneagram Series by Mark McGuinness

Having introduced the Enneagram system of personality types in my last post, I’ll now start to describe the individual Enneagram types.

The minimum you need to know about the Enneagram symbol is that it is divided into three parts, representing the three ‘centres’ or types of intelligence in human beings - emotional, mental and physical. Another way of looking at the three centres is to see them as corresponding to different types of action - relating, thinking and doing.

Update on taxgirl.com and “the ban”

Thursday Mar 22, 2007

For those of you who can only access taxgirl.com from your home because of the ban by SmartFilter, here’s where things stand”

SmartFilter has banned my site - I have been notified of this by a few readers, including over at Roth & Co. The content is apparently too racy for the SmartFilter software. I guess it’s all of the talk about AMT and rebates… far too exciting.

At any rate, the software is marketed by a company called Secure Computing, with headquarters in Reston, VA. I contacted their headquarters a few weeks back and left a detailed message which was not returned. Today, I called again and was told to call the St. Paul, Minnesota office. I was then transferred to… yet another machine where I left yet another message.

Jamie McIntyre Changed My Life

A bit over 3 years ago, I came across a free DVD with Jamie McIntyre. I read an ad in the newspaper advertising the DVD . It was the second time in 12 months I had come across this opportunity. The first time the DVD was for sale for $97 and I decided to give it a raincheck due to the price. Obviously I thought that $97 was too expensive for a potential opportunity that could change my life. What was I thinking? If I would learn to invest or learn the secrets of the rich, surely that was worth $97. Well, my mind process back then wasn’t much different to the way 96% of the population thinks; better safe than sorry. If in doubt, stay out!

Learning From Success

Monday Mar 19, 2007

To get the most from a 21st Century education, you have to choose your instructors wisely. Choose to be led by proven, successful individuals who stand as proof to the success of the programs they are offering.

It is not uncommon for people who are interested in creating wealth via the share markets to look to a financial planner of some sort for help. The only trouble with that is that often these people are in no better financial shape than you are. Most readily accessible and affordable financial planners are just paid employees. In a lot of cases, these people are working on commission, and are really only interested in pushing the financial products that will make them money.

Is Education Important?

Friday Mar 16, 2007

As talk of recession increases, I’m hearing more and more folks question the merits of higher education. I have to say, I completely understand where they are coming from…

While it’s true that many jobs require a college education - or beyond (like law) - increasingly, you can find a decent job without a college education. This is especially common in the tech industry where some knowledge in java or html can take you a lot further than biology.
